Common Ethernet cables are Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a
- Cat5 cable is the slowest of the group and is now obsolete and almost no longer for sale. If you still use cables of this type, it is worth replacing.
- Cat5e (Cat 5 enhanced – the “e” stands for enhanced, “advanced” in English) it is currently the most used in the new network systems, able to extremely reduce interference. Cat 5e cables leverage data transmission frequencies up to 100 MHz and it can provide a transfer rate up to 1 Gbps/s
